Still Life

1st

One of my earliest exercises to interpret lighting and composition was from Bracquemond Marie’s painting called Iris in a Vase, 1886. Learning from painted pictures of that time has a certain challenge to it. Artists back then painted still lifes over a longer period of time, and thus lighting conditions changed during the day. This resulted in a mix of direction and properties of light in the final painting.

This picture was printed on William Turner, a Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper, with a long edge of 80 cm.

2nd

This Still Life Transportation represents the waste and dried flowers taken out of my shared flat.

Still Life Transportation aim to rethink and renew the still life genre in contemporary photography. Composition and lighting, color, perspective, and the choice of focal length are considered to develop a visual language that reflects the present time.
