Material's Studies

The study of material is a fundamental exercise in photography that teaches how to work with different materials and their surface properties. It is one of the most challenging but very beneficial exercises to get better at photography. Once I started, I couldn’t stop noticing how materials were captured in photographs, whether well or poorly. Mastering this elevates photographs. For me, this is a very beautiful part of photography: working with materials and giving them the attention they need to stand out. It is peaceful and timeless. I learned to appreciate small things, look closely, and carefully set lighting to highlight all the different properties.
